Family Events
- Bring a Child to Work Day—This event is an opportunity for children, ages 8-16, to visit the Cornell University campus, explore interests and careers through participation in activities, consider and discuss work-life balance issues, and see what parents, relatives and/or friends do at their jobs at Cornell.
- College of Veterinary Medicine Open House, held every spring—www.vet.cornell.edu
- Employee Celebration Day—One Saturday each semester features Cornell football or basketball, various activities, and dinner. These family-oriented events are open to Cornell faculty, staff, retirees, and their families—www.ohr.cornell.edu/commitment/staffEvents/ECD.html
- Judy's Day—Judy’s Day is a hands-on program, held in September, that explores a unique plant theme. It takes place both at the Plantations and in local schools—www.plantations.cornell.edu/education/judysday.cfm.
Staff Events
- Staff Education Exploration Day (S.E.E.D.)—S.E.E.D. provides Cornell staff with the opportunity to explore all the different avenues in which they can develop, both personally and professionally, from educational programs to volunteer programs. Representatives from both community and Cornell organizations are present.
- President's Annual Address to Staff—At this annual fall event, President David J. Skorton gives an address to members of the university staff on the state of the university.
Specific Networking Events
- Employee Connections, including the Cornell Recreation Connection—Trips, barbeques, and other events. See http://www.crc.cornell.edu/eccalendar.html.
- Expanding Social Opportunities—Designed to increase networking and community among the faculty. For details contact crm54@cornell.edu.
- International Students and Scholars Office—The ISSO sponsors the International Coffee Hour for faculty and staff members and students, from 3:30–5:30 p.m. on Thursdays in the Big Red Barn. Call 255-5243 for more information.
- Sharing Our World—The Sharing Our World series is an opportunity for staff to come together to network with colleagues and allow new staff to make connections to the larger Cornell community. The setting is informal with the expectation that professional and personal relationships are cultivated at these events. Events are scheduled throughout the year. - Cook Awards—Constance E. Cook and Alice H. Cook Awards (for commitment to women’s issues and improvement of the climate for women at Cornell)
- Cornell Service Recognition Program
- George Peter Award for Dedicated Service—George Peter Award for Dedicated Service (peer-nominated, university-wide award of merit for staff)—www.assembly.cornell.edu/EA
- Jennie T. Farley Office Professionals Celebration—This event recognizes all office professionals for their daily contributions to the university. The popular symposium features a lively program, a complimentary lunch, entertainment and door prizes.
