How do I find out what jobs are available?
For Web (internet) access:
Disability Accommodation Available for Applicants
- I understand that if I require an accommodation for a disability so that I may participate in the selection process I am encouraged to contact Cornell University's Office of Workforce Policy and Labor Relations. That office can be reached at voice (607) 254-7232, or via fax at (607) 255-0298 or email at equalopportunity@cornell.edu .
What Web browsers are supported?
How long are jobs advertised?
- Each position is advertised on-line for a minimum of 10 business days
and may be posted longer.
- Some positions will include a deadline in the posting and others will not.
- Please note that positions are posted as they become available and can appear
on-line anytime. It is recommended that you check on-line regularly for postings (at
least once a week).
How do I apply?
How do I complete the Educational Institution section?
- You are required to complete at least one entry in this section.
- The following fields are required: Educational Institution, City,
State, and Education Level.
- Include high school, college, certificate programs, and other specialized
training in this section. For certificate programs and other specialized
training, select "Non-Degree Program" or "Other" in the Education Level
field.

If I choose to use the optional copy and paste fields to include my cover letter and resume, how will they be formatted?
- The system will not hold all of your formatting, for example, bold and italicized
text, as well as some bullets may convert to a combination of characters. However,
individuals evaluating your candidacy for the position understand that this
is not a reflection on you, and will be evaluating you based on your skills
and qualifications for the position.
- If you prefer, you can save a copy of your
resume as a "Text Only" file, and use this version to paste into the application.
This option will limit the conversion issue with bulleted lists.
If I apply on-line, do I also send a hard (paper) copy?
Job structure and rate of pay for union positions.
- Positions at Cornell that are covered by a collective bargaining
agreement (contract) with a union have rates of pay that are designated
in the appropriate contract. For specific information regarding pay
and other terms of employment for unionized positions, the contracts
can be found at www.ohr.cornell.edu/policies/laborContracts/agreement.html.
What does "Overtime Status" mean?
- Cornell University employees are covered by the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Generally, all employees are protected by the FLSA
and covered by its overtime and record-keeping requirments unless "exempted" under specific sections of the statute.
- Those that are not covered are termed "Exempt" from legally-required overtime and other pay requirements.
- Those positions that are covered by the FLSA are considered as "Non-exempt" meaning that overtime and other legal requirements apply to them.
Why don't I receive notifications about jobs anymore?
- If you haven't updated your account in the past three months you will no longer receive the job posting notifications.
- To reactivate your account, visit www.ohr.cornell.edu/jobs,
