Labor Contracts

These pages are primarily designed for staff in the bargaining units who are trying to resolve workplace issues. They provide links to information on resolving interpersonal and work-related issues with peers, supervisors, and subordinates; discrimination and harassment issues; dealing with personal issues such as financial or emotional stresses; and topics of concern to those who are members of one of Cornell's bargaining units, including copies of the bargaining contracts.

A brief description of each of these bargaining units follows. For copies of the contracts, click on one of the bullets above.

Building Trades Council (BTC)

The contract that Cornell has with the BTC covers approximately 150 employees who work in the building trades such as carpenters, electricians, painters, masons, plumbers, sheet metal workers and laborers.  These employees work in the department of Planning, Design and Construction (PDC).

Communication Workers of America (CWA)

The contract that Cornell has with the CWA covers 20 administrative assistants and staff support employees in the NYS College of Industrial and Labor Relations Metropolitan (New York City) District Office, Extension Division.

Cornell Police Union (CPU)

The contract that Cornell has with the CPU covers 37 employees in the Cornell Police Department who are patrol officers and telecommunicators.

International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE)

The contract that Cornell has with the IUOE covers 35 employees in the department of Utilities who operate and maintain the Central Heating Plant, Chilled Water Plant and Water Filtration Plant.

United Auto Workers (UAW)

The contract that Cornell has with the UAW covers approximately 1,200 employees in service and maintenance occupations such as custodial, food service, maintenance mechanics, bus drivers, material handlers, animal attendants, groundsworkers and field assistants.  These employees work in a variety of departments across the University.

Security, Police and Fire Professional of America (SPFPA)

The contract Cornell has with the SPFPA covers 12 Transportation Service Representatives in Transportation Services who enforce parking and traffic requlations and policies.

Cornell Adjunct Faculty Alliance (CAFA)

This contract covers Adjunct Faculty who teach extension classes through the Cornell School of Industrial and Labor Relations Extension divisions in New York City and Western New York.
