Employees urged to plan now for stormy weather
How would severe weather affect where, how and when Cornell staff do their work? University officials are urging employees to make work plans for weather-related closings and delays.

Alumni's military service recognized on Veterans Day
Lt. Col. Steven Alexander, the head of Cornell Reserve Officers Training Corps, spoke at Cornell's Veteran's Day Ceremony, held Nov. 11 in Willard Straight Hall's Memorial Room.

Employees attend Benefair 2009
Approximately 500 staff and faculty members learned about the benefits that Cornell offers to them at the 2009 Benefair, held Nov. 11 in G10 Biotech. The open enrollment period ends Nov. 30.

Deadline for Endowed Benefits Open Enrollment Nov. 30 Almost Here

Monday, Nov. 30 is the last chance for endowed faculty and staff to:

  • Enroll in, change, or drop health and dental plans for coverage effective Jan. 1, 2010. Note: If you do nothing, your current plan and elections will be effective for 2010.
  • Enroll in Select Benefits Medical Care Reimbursement Account for 2010. Note: If you do nothing, you will NOT  be enrolled in this account for 2010.
  • Enroll in Select Benefits Dependent Care Reimbursement Account for 2010. Note: if you do nothing, you will NOT be enrolled in this account for 2010. All child care grant recipients must be enrolled in a Select Benefits Dependent Care Reimbursement Account in order to receive a child care grant.

  • Parents of Children with Special Needs Network: Special Presentation by The Family Resource Network, a non-profit agency that serves individuals with special needs and their families. Dec. 8, 12-1 p.m., B12 Day Hall.

Training and Development Opportunities

Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3) Mentor

TC3 has a mentor, Leah Macleod, to assist Cornell staff members and their families who are interested in taking, TC3 courses. The mentor is available from 8-10:30 a.m. on Dec. 3 in 116 Stimson Hall. The TC3 mentor can be reached at: macleol@tc3.edu.

SkillSoft Online Courses

Cornell staff or faculty members have access to more than 2000 SkillSoft online courses at no charge. Contact Organizational Development Services at org_dev-mailbox@cornell.edu to obtain an ID and password. You can then access the SkillSoft e-learning site at https://cornell.skillport.com
